Hire a Caterham from £150 a day including comprehensive insurance.
We run cars, a Supersports and a 1.8 SV model, are sourced only from Caterham and prepared by Caterham.
We reckon they’re just the best fun car for people, balancing accessible high performance with driveability.
They have 135bhp, but crucially, weigh only around 540 kg. To give you an idea, the same power to weight at c 250bhp/tonne as a Porsche 911 or Aston V8 Vantage.
0-60mph is a blink over five seconds.
Additionally, because they’re so light (and other race bred suspension witchcraft goings on ) the handling and responsiveness is genuinely and superbly unique.
We specify the cars with a six speed gearbox (again more fun in our view, a £1500 Caterham option), Widetrack Superlight suspension and uprated AP brakes. For your safety we have race harnesses (still comfy) and a race rollbar (stronger).
There are plenty of other laudable “Seven” style cars, but for us at least, the Caterham is the real deal and has the provenence and heritage.
In simple terms, the SV is more spacious both in the cabin, the pedal area and the boot.

It weights only around 25kg more than the Supersports, yet it has a longer wheelbase and wider track – clever, those chaps at Caterham. It’s still a really pure and agile driving experience, The 1.8 140bhp engine is a bit more powerful and torquey and makes it a bit leggier for cruising. Again, we’ve specified our car with a six speed box for the sheer fun of it.
Our SV is in Grigio Titanium - a Ferrari colour. Sourced from, and prepared by Caterham, it’s specified with widetrack suspension and uprated brakes - Trackday rollbar and full harnesses for safety too. It has full weather gear, effective heater and leather seats. It rides on cool and sporty 15” anthracite ten spoke wheels, with Avon CR500 tyres – seriously sticky! They only last 2500-3000 miles but they’re worth it
Our Supersports have been on fantastic adventures, 10 days in Switzerland and Italy for example. The one and two day mileage records stand at 327 and 630 miles respectively. They are surprisingly comfy for such an exciting drive. If however you are doing a weekend or longer and there are two of you, we’d suggest the SV if it’s available. It drives beautifully.
We’ve had up to 6ft4” in the Supersports but we reckon the SV will take 6ft 5” comfortably and up to about 17st.
SO there we are, the best of both worlds now. Either way you’ll have a hoot.
This is real wind in the hair motoring, but the cars are specified with a heater (some nutters don't have them - too heavy!), heated windscreen and weather gear - both a full hood and a tonneau cover which is easy to put on. We'll show you how to use the hood and while it's not a Bentleyesque push of a button, nor is it a wrestle to the death with a giant squid. The seats are more comfy than you might imagine.

Picking up cars from our mates at Caterham Midland. We wouldn't buy from anyone other than Caterham. Nick and Jody at Midlands are superb as is Dom and Damian at South. If you hire a car from us and get so badly bitten by the bug, (it happens!) tell them Scott sent you and I'm sure they'll knock off your rental cost |

“ We hired the Supersport 135 for a day and had a fantastic time. You haven't driven a performance car until you have driven a Caterham! It's an incredibly intense and rewarding experience. Driving through the spectacular scenery of North Yorkshire is probably the best way to experience the thrill. We will definitely hire a car from Scott again, next time for a full weekend. The only downside is that after driving one you will desperately want to own one.”
